Mission Team Report
On Friday, July 16, nineteen teens and sponsors from Mikado Baptist Church debarked their plane from Georgia and descended upon our doorstep in Argentina. That day was the coldest in the past decade, but they warmed our hearts with their spirit to serve.
Under the excellent leadership of Youth Pastor Peter Grant, the team overcame many obstacles, including inclement weather, cultural differences, a language barrier, and a tiring schedule, with a joyful and flexible attitude. They made a tremendous impact on every life they touched and we are proud to hold them up as examples to the Argentine people. Thank you to all the parents and supporters who enabled each of the members to make this trip as well as those who prayed for their ministry while they were here.
Vacation Bible School
The main activity of the Mikado team was a winter VBS. It was a wonderful week with our church people and the mission team working together. We had three age groups who rotated between three stations—Bible lesson, craft, and games. The Mikado ladies prepared and led crafts for the ladies, which was quite a popular feature. There were several teens who came every afternoon, so they had games and a devotional for them as well.
There were a few visitors who came as a result of our canvassing, but the majority came with a church member. One dear lady, Ramona, brought a total of 9 visitors! There were 18 children who visited for the first time, and most of them did make a salvation decision! Two of the mothers with their children were back at church Sunday morning! Please pray as we follow up with each of these families.
Thursday and Friday nights we held back-to-back youth meetings. The Mikado team did a great job with games and skits. Pastor Pete preached a timely message both nights. On Thursday there were 23 teens from the area and 30 on Friday. A highlight for everyone was the Argentine asado on Friday night, which included grilled steak and several homemade salads.
We really saw God’s hand at work in the lives of several teens. The Lord directly answered our prayers concerning a few who are going through various struggles. One made a salvation decision, and at least eight said they needed to get right with the Lord. To HIM be the glory!
Our furlough schedule is almost full. We look forward to reporting on God’s work in Argentina in our supporting churches who have been so faithful through the years to pray for us and give toward our financial needs. There are a few openings left, so if you would like us to come visit your church, please contact us. Please pray for us as we prepare to leave our home and ministry here and for good prices on airline tickets.
