Why would a church plant have a missions conference?
All christians have the mandate to “go and preach the gospel to every creature.” For that reason, our church held its second missions conference. At this point, the goal is not so much to support missionaries, but to teach our people the importance of world-wide missions, with the prayer that the Lord would call one or several folks from our body to serve Him full time. Specifically, we are praying for God to call a man to serve as the national pastor of this work.
We were thrilled to have our Baptist World Mission field director, Jesse Garza, as the special speaker for the conference. Our church was excited to have a special speaker who also speaks Spanish. Many commented that his preaching was a blessing.
There were several visitors during the week. On the first night two couples and a lady came who were all unsaved. On the second night, one of the couples, Walter and Sandra, came back and brought their three daughters. In the children’s class, Amy presented the Gospel and one by one, each of the daughters trusted Christ. After the service, Brother Garza led both Walter and Sandra to the Lord. It is amazing how God was working in each of their hearts to prepare them for that night! On Sunday morning, they even brought their neighbors to church; on Wednesday, they brought another family; and on Saturday they began new believers discipleship! Please pray for the spiritual growth of this family. Already, through the Holy Spirit’s prompting, they realize they are living in sin and want to get legally married.
Please pray that God would continue to work in hearts and lives here in Pilar!
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support,
James and Amy
